1930年，新山一机场由法国殖民者建成通航；1975年5月15日，新山一国际机场正式由越南接管开通民航业务；2007年8月，新山一国际机场T2航站楼启用.
截至2022年11月，新山一国际机场T1航站楼面积40948平方米，T2航站楼108921平方米；民航站坪设100个机位，其中14个廊桥机位；南跑道长3800米、宽45米，北跑道长3048米、宽45米；可满足年旅客吞吐量2800万人次、货邮吞吐量50万吨的使用需求.
