日立港口位于位于日本（全称：日本国JMAN）本州东部茨城县东北、久磁川口之北，日立市之南，濒临太平洋西侧，是茨城县的主要港口之一。北踞小滨30海里，南距那珂凑池港10海里，至鹿岛港35海里，至东京湾口连接点155海里，至伊良湖水道275海里，纪伊水道410海里。港口沿海岸东北－西南向伸展，外有南北防波堤合抱，船舶由东南入港。目前港口尚未全部建成，现有3座突堤，其中北两座。1号突堤，有6个泊位分布在两侧，另有2个泊位分布在西南顺岸，其中除D泊位水深10米，为1.5万吨级；B、C、E3个泊位水深7.5米，为5000吨级外，其它各泊位因靠陆水深仅4－5米，为千吨级泊位。2号突堤有4个泊位，分布在两侧，除B泊位水深9米，为万吨级外，其它各泊位水深均只有7.5米，是5000吨级码头。5号码头在港区南部，北侧有3个泊位，其中外段2个为1.5万吨级泊位，水深10米。待建的为4号突堤和3号突堤顺岸码头，港北还有渔港。它是关东北部著名的工业城市。该港属亚热带季风气候，春、秋盛行东北风，冬季多西北风。年平均气温为10～27℃。4～6月为海雾最盛月份。全年平均降雨量约1000mm。属半日潮港，大潮升1．4M，小潮升1．1m。港区主要码头泊位有15个（包括专用外贸集装箱泊位），岸线长1879m，最大水深为：Dm。装卸设备有卸货机、集装箱装卸桥及拖船等，其中拖船最大功率达1765kw。装卸速率：卸货机每小时250吨。
