苏丹港位于苏丹（全称：苏丹共和国THE REPUBLIC OF THE SUDAN）东北沿海的中部，濒临红海的西侧，是苏丹唯 一的对外贸易港口，也是全国重要的产盐基地。全国有90%以上的进出口货物经 此运往世界各地。主要工业有炼油、电力、汽车、船舶修理及农木产品加工等， 并拥有大型炼油厂，其输油管道长达815km，直达首都喀土穆（KHARTOUM）。 港口距国际机场约5.5km，每天有定期航班飞往开罗（CAIRO）及喀土穆。 该港属热带沙漠气候，年平均气温约29摄氏度，最高达40~50摄氏度。每年5~7月常有来自于沙漠的大风暴。全年平均降雨量达400mm。无潮差。水位高低相差仅0.6m。 港区主要码头泊位有14个，岸线长2381m，最大水深12m。装卸设备有各种岸吊、可移式吊、装煤机、叉车、拖船及滚装设施等，其中可移式吊、最大起重能力为54吨。港区有库场面积达17万平方米，筒式粮库容量达5万吨，码头最大可靠达3.5万载重吨的油船。装卸效率：原油每小时装1000吨，每小时卸 2800吨。大船锚地水深达25m。年货物吞吐量约800万吨。主要出口货物有花 生、皮张、棉花、油饼、瓜子、棉籽、牛、羊及石油制品等，进口货物主要有粮食、原油、棉织品、铁器、麻、茶、面粉、糖及杂货等。在节假日中独立日、拜兰节、穆罕默德新年、革命日及圣诞节不工作，其它所有假日均可加班。
